Hello friends

I

want you to know that we are still here! We have been taking advantage

of the cold weather to stay inside and work on new material
which we will be performing at Lula Lounge at a special Cinco de Mayo concert together with Quique Esquamilla Band.

In the interim Cafe Con Pan, in conjunction with Lula Music and Arts Centre, would like to invite you and the whole family to a Mexican carnival celebration with the Canadian premiere of the documentary "Soy Carnavalero" by Aidee Balderas.

This new production focuses on the vibrant culture of a small town called Colatlán in the state of Veracruz, Mexico where the Nahua people celebrate carnival every year. These festivities which combine ancient huasteco melodies, parading devils, sacred rituals and collective dancing are unlike those of carnival anywhere else in the world. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles.

The screening will be followed by an interactive performance of "El Fandanguito" by the son jarocho group Cafe Con Pan. This game with live music is based on the Mexican form of bingo called lotería.

There will be prizes.

Free Admission!
